Water Quality Management Programme

The Environmental Protection (Water Quality) Regulations, 2000, were developed to protect and/or preserve the physical, chemical and biological attributes of Guyana’s waters (fresh and coastal). The Water Quality management programme is responsible for defining the types and amounts of contaminants that fresh and coastal waters can experience without compromising value. The sources of contaminants are then managed in the most effective and efficient way to reduce the threats to the environment and public health.
