Notice to the public – Closure

The general public is hereby notified that the Environmental Protection Agency-EPA will be closed for two days (Wednesday September 02 and Thursday September 03, 2020) to facilitate the fumigation and sanitization of the building and compound at Ganges Street, Sophia, Georgetown. The Agency will resume operation on Friday September 04, 2020, at 9:00 H.

Updated Environmental Complaints Management

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hereby advises the general public that there is a new system in place to manage environmental complaints.

In this regard, members of the public can report environmental complaints utilising any of the following updated methods:

• Complaints 24-Hour Hotline Number: 592-225-5469; or
• E-mail: complaint@epaguyana.org.

Please note, complaint reports MUST include:

1. Nature of the complaint;
2. Name and address of business/entity/person causing the pollution;  
3. Name of the complainant (person making the complaint); and
4. Contact information and address of complainant.

Dear valued customers,

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) hereby advises the public, that due to the COVID-19 situation, all EPA Offices are being opened daily, with limited services, from 09:00h – 15:00h.

The Agency has taken stringent measures to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for both our staff and customers.

In this regard, customers visiting the EPA are to be aware of the following protocols:

1. The Agency is currently operating with reduced staff on a rotational basis;
2. Only emergency field visits will be accommodated;
3. The Offices continue to be cleaned daily and the Agency has installed additional hand sanitizing and hand washing facilities;
4. Persons visiting the Office are required to comply with the ALL precautionary measures implemented by the Agency, including social distancing, hand washing and wearing of face masks;
5. The EPA assures you that all procedures and protocols recommended by the Public Health Experts to ensure safety and security are being implemented.
