EPA executes National Stakeholder Consultation on the Preparation of the Interim National Report on the Implementation of the Nagoya Protocol

 Guyana ratified the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD) on August 29, 1994 and is therefore committed to implementing the Decisions of the CBD Conference of Parties (COP). The Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit sharing (ABS) was adopted in October 2010 in Nagoya, Japan and came into force on October 2014. Guyana acceded to the Nagoya Protocol on April 22, 2014, being the only country in Caribbean at that time to do so. The Environmental Protection Agency is the National Focal Point (NFP) to the CBD and by extension, the ABS Protocol.
