The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to commemorate its twenty-third (23) anniversary and World Environment Day,  engaged in a number of environmental enhancement and beautification exercises in its immediate environs. Three activities involving approximately 60 staff were conducted simultaneously on June 05. Prior to the commencement of the activities, brief remarks were delivered to the staff by EPA’s Executive Director, Dr. Vincent Adams who flagged the importance of the EPA, especially at this transformative period in Guyana's history.

Staff of the Agency, led by the Executive Director, went into the North Sophia Community to engage with residents on matters of concern. The Agency also distributed 23 fruits plants symbolic of its 23 anniversary and several educational packages to residents.

Eight (8) EPA branded garbage bins EPA branded bins were distributed to selected institutions; Sophia Juvenile Prison, Sophia Training Centre, Campbellville Post Office , Campbellville Police Outpost , Redeemer Primary School , Campbellville Health Centre and the New Campbellville Secondary School . The bins were well received by the institutions and would greatly aid in better solid waste management.

In keeping with the World Environment Day 2019 theme, "Air Pollution", the EPA also cleaned its compound, planted fresh flowers, pruned existing flower pots, and planted palms along the Northern section of the building.
